SHURTLEFF & INTERNET INVESTIGATORS TAKE PART IN CYBERSAFETY TV TOWN HALL
Attorney General Mark Shurtleff and members of the Utah Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force are participating in a televised town hall meeting to help protect children on the Internet. "Cybersafe Your Teens," is a one-hour program that will air on February 26 at 9 p.m. on KUED-Channel 7 and then shown again on two other nights.
"This program highlights what the Attorney General's Office is doing to stop Internet predators. More importantly it explains why everyone needs to be vigilant to truly keep kids safe online," says Shurtleff.
The program features some important statistics for parents:
- One in seven children has been solicited for sex on the Internet.
- Utah ranks number one in the nation for home computer use, with computers in more than 74 percent of households.
- Utah ranks 5th highest in the nation for Internet use in the home and has the highest population of children in the nation.
Members of the Attorney General's ICAC Task Force will show how they are catching and prosecuting predators. This project is funded by the Utah State Legislature and DVDs of the program along with printed materials will be distributed to schools.
