Victim Assistance
The Victim Assistance Program provides support, information, and assistance to victims and assists city and county prosecutors, police and other agencies with victim witness programs. The program was created to better serve victims of crime in cases handled by the Attorney General's Office.
Most criminal matters, including domestic violence, child abuse, and property loss cases, are handled by county or city attorneys. Local agencies often administer their own victim assistance program. If you are the victim of a crime and need assistance, please contact your city or county attorney for information about available victims' services.
In many of the cases handled by the Attorney General's Office, restitution is owed to a victim or victims. The Restitution Team works with victims to help them collect monies owed to them.
The Utah Office of Crime Victim Reparations may also provide compensation and other services to victims.
