20th Anniversary CJC Symposium / UPC Domestic Violence Conference Awards Presented

Snowbird, UT (June 10, 2015) — Yesterday, Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes welcomed approximately 700 multidisciplinary professionals from across Utah to the 20th Anniversary of the Utah Children’s Justice Symposium / Utah Prosecution Council Domestic Violence Conference. Today, awards were given to the following recipients:

Detective Sergeant Stephanie Tatton: CJC Program MDT (Multidisciplinary Training) Award

This year’s recipient of the prestigious CJC Program MDT Award is Detective Sergeant Stephanie Tatton of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.  Prior to her promotion, Stephanie served eight years as the office’s primary investigator for crimes against children.  In addition, she served as a Drug Endangered Child Specialist with the Ogden/Weber Narcotics Strike Force and as a member of the Homicide Task Force. She is described as the epitome of a MDT member who understands and believes in the mission of a CJC.

Representative Francis Gibson: Champion

Rep. Gibson (House Majority Whip) serves on the Utah County CJC board and last year became very interested in the work of the CJCs.  He proved to be an incredible champion for CJC services, and successfully secured additional ongoing funding this past legislative session to support training and other initiatives to ensure high quality forensic interviews at all of the centers.

Colby Bryson: Production Director – One With Courage

Colby is the Production Director for Phase 2 Productions (housed within Spyhop Productions).  Colby was the creative mind behind Utah’s One With Courage campaign. He directed and produced all of the PSAs and oversaw campaign publicity.  Colby captured the campaign’s theme with very compelling imagery and narrative, and became very personally invested in the project, volunteering countless hours to its success. His work can be seen at onewithcourageutah.org.

The Children’s Justice Center program also presented this year’s Rocky Rognlie Scholarship awards in remembrance of former Assistant Attorney General Rocky Rognlie, whose family donated scholarship funds to the CJC program.

The Utah Children’s Justice Symposium / Utah Prosecution Council Domestic Violence Conference is currently in session at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort through Wed., June 10, 2015. Due to victim privacy concerns, sessions are closed to the media and public. The agenda of sessions can be found at www.cjcsym.utah.gov
