Daniel Ruskin is an Assistant Attorney General in the consumer protection section within the Office’s Commercial Enforcement Division. Together with the attorneys on this team, he represents the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and the State in consumer protection enforcement actions. He also collaborates with attorneys general and federal enforcement partners nationwide on multistate consumer protection investigations and enforcement matters. His work spans a broad range of issues, including matters involving emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and unfair or deceptive business practices affecting Utah consumers.
Before joining the Office of the Utah Attorney General, Mr. Ruskin founded several legal technology companies focused on patent prosecution and mass litigation management. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York University School of Law, where he was a Pomeroy Scholar and Butler Scholar. He served as a staff editor on the Tax Law Review, as a research assistant for Professor Scott Hemphill, and as a teaching assistant for Antitrust Law and Legislation and the Regulatory State. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Connecticut and is admitted to practice in Utah, Connecticut, New York, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
