Valerie Wilde is an Assistant Attorney General in the Commercial Enforcement Division. She represents the Utah Division of Professional Licensing and previously represented the Utah Division of Real Estate within the Department of Commerce. She primarily provides support for the Medical and Allied Health professions and is responsible for the legal and administrative adjudication of licensing and enforcement matters.
In her current role, Valerie advises on active enforcement matters, administrative rulemaking, professional discipline, scope-of-practice issues, and the resolution of citizen complaints. She regularly reviews investigative materials, medical records, prescribing data, and expert evaluations involving physicians, nurses, physician assistants, dentists, and other licensed healthcare professionals. Valerie also provides legal support on matters involving massage therapists, establishment inspections, unlicensed practice, and other regulated professions under the Division’s jurisdiction.
Valerie has extensive experience conducting administrative hearings and litigating regulatory enforcement actions from investigation through appeal. She works closely with investigators, expert witnesses, and licensing boards to develop enforcement strategies that protect the public while ensuring fair and consistent application of Utah’s professional licensing laws.
Before joining the Office of the Utah Attorney General, Valerie practiced in both the public and private sectors, handling a wide variety of civil litigation, employment law, regulatory, and administrative law matters. During her twenty-five-plus years of public service, she held several leadership positions with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, where she managed litigation and risk management teams, supervised attorneys and staff, oversaw complex caseloads, and advised government agencies on regulatory compliance, liability exposure, and litigation strategy. Her experience includes representing clients in administrative proceedings, state and federal courts, and appellate matters.
Valerie is a proud graduate of California Western School of Law. Prior to moving to Utah in 1991, she lived in San Diego, California, where she earned both her undergraduate degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and her law degree. She brings more than twenty-five years of legal, regulatory, and leadership experience to her work and remains committed to protecting the public through effective professional licensing and regulatory enforcement.
