Yesterday, Attorney General Sean D. Reyes joined Governor Gary Herbert at the George Washington luncheon, hosted by the Utah Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, to honor over a dozen Utahns who displayed heroism and dedicated service to their communities and fellow citizens this past year.
“It was really emotional,” Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes told KSL News. “To be able to actually shake their hands, give them a hug and thank them on behalf of everyone in Utah, it really choked me up.”
The event paid tribute to National Guard heroes, student scholarship recipients, student essay winners, and five national award winners. Brad Fritz, Brandon Baker, Trooper Ruben Correa, Mark Pierce, Eric Staten and Nate Hammond won 2020 Hero Awards. Elder D. Todd Christofferson, Boyd Matheson, Leslie Zimmerman, Sky View High School and East High School won National Awards.
