Feb. 13, 2014 – Attorney General Sean D. Reyes along with Utah House Majority Leader Brad L. Dee and State Senator Scott K. Jenkins announced the clear success of the Attorney General’s SECURE Strike Force today at the Salt Lake County Jail with the news of the recent lock up of international criminal Victor Rax. Majority Leader Dee and Senator Jenkins co-sponsored the 2009 bill that authorized the Office of the Attorney General to administer and coordinate the operation of a multi-agency strike force to combat violent and other major felony crimes associated with illegal immigration and human trafficking.
On Feb. 11, Special Agents of SECURE executed four search warrants with the help of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations agents, the Park City Police Department, the West Jordan Police Department, Utah Department of Corrections, and Adult Probation and Parole and Highway Patrol. The investigation and operation resulted in the arrest of Victor Rax (D.O.B. 1-1-1972) for Aggravated Human Trafficking, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana and Spice. Investigative sources indicate that Rax was providing the narcotics to minors as part of the grooming process for sexual exploitation and to coerce them to deal narcotics for him in and around the Salt Lake valley. Knowing that Rax is in custody has led to multiple victims offering information. Investigators believe that there are more juvenile victims. The Utah Attorney General SECURE Strike Force is asking the public to help identify other victims so that services may be provided to them and additional criminal charges against Rax may be considered.
The SECURE Tip Line number is 801-281-1203.
