Public Safety

Learn more about how Attorney General Brown will help keep you and your family safe

Attorney General Derek Brown prioritizes the safety of Utahns in their cities, homes, schools, and communities. He believes public safety is enhanced through effective law enforcement and prosecution of violent crimes.

One key initiative is Crimes Against State Economy (CASE), which targets criminal activities that could harm the state’s economy. This multi-agency task force, created by the Utah Legislature in collaboration with the Utah Department of Public Safety, partners with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

The CASE Task Force investigates organized retail crime, cargo theft, porch piracy, gambling, and catalytic converter thefts. To combat the sale of stolen goods online, it works closely with corporate retail investigators from retailers like Lowe’s, Target, and Walmart and e-commerce platforms such as OfferUp and eBay.
