Utah settles with Aylo

landmark agreement to protect kids

The Office of the Utah Attorney General, the Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Consumer Protection, in partnership with the Federal Trade Commission, has reached a landmark settlement with Aylo—the enterprise behind some of the world’s largest pornography websites, including Pornhub.com and Redtube.com. This agreement requires Aylo to implement robust Trust & Safety programs and pay up to $15 million in penalties to resolve allegations of unconscionable and deceptive business practices.

For years, investigators uncovered troubling practices that allowed harmful content to thrive on Aylo’s platforms. The settlement ensures that Aylo takes meaningful steps to prevent child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and non-consensual material (NCM) from appearing on its websites. These measures aim to protect consumers, uphold privacy, and restore accountability in the digital space.

Under this agreement, Aylo must comply with stringent requirements designed to safeguard individuals and prevent exploitation.

Key agreement Requirements

Content safety

The company has to implement a CSAM and NCM prevention program and remove this material from its sites.

Age and consent verification

The settlement requires the company to verify uploads are at least 18 years old and confirm they have given written consent.

Audits and Reporting

The company has to undergo independent audits every two years for 10 years and publish biannual reports on prevention efforts.

Financial Penalty

The settlement demands the company pay $5 million immediately to Utah, with an additional $10 million if a court finds non-compliance.
