Combats Utah's most serious crimes

About Justice

The Justice Division prosecutes Utah’s most serious and complex crimes while leading statewide efforts to protect victims, strengthen communities, and support effective criminal prosecution. The division is composed of multiple prosecutorial units working in close coordination with specialized investigative teams and task forces.

The division includes sections focused on Criminal Non-Support (CNS), Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), and the SECURE Strike Force, as well as teams serving the Insurance Division, the Office of Recovery Services, and the Department of Workforce Services. A Special Prosecution Section handles—and assists jurisdictions across Utah with—high-impact cases involving public corruption, state RICO, identity theft, asset forfeiture, and serious and violent crimes, including murder, capital murder, and the abuse and exploitation of children and elders.

In addition, the Justice Division oversees Utah’s Children’s Justice Centers, Victim Services, and the Utah Prosecution Council. Through these programs and partnerships, the division works with local, state, and federal partners to prosecute crime, support victims, and provide training that strengthens the administration of justice statewide.
