The Child and Family Support Division plays a critical role in promoting financial stability for Utah children by representing the Office of Recovery Services in court. The division establishes parentage, sets and enforces fair child support orders, and ensures that children receive the financial support they are entitled to under the law.
Division attorneys also modify support orders when family circumstances change and recover child support assigned to the state for families who have received public assistance. This work protects the integrity of public benefit programs, promotes parental responsibility, and ensures that financial obligations are met by those legally responsible for providing support.
