Secure strike force

Statewide Enforcement to Combat Racketeering and Exploitation

About SECURE

In 2009, the Utah Legislature passed U.C.A. § 67-5-22.7, tasking the Office of the Utah Attorney General with creating and coordinating a multi-agency strike force to combat violent and major felony crimes linked to human trafficking, illegal immigration, and other serious offenses. That directive became the foundation of the SECURE Strike Force.

Today, a specialized team of Special Agent Investigators, cross-deputized prosecutors, and dedicated support staff carry out this mission across the state and in federal court.

What SECURE does

The SECURE Strike Force investigates and prosecutes large-scale, often cross-jurisdictional crimes including:

  • Human trafficking and exploitation
  • Identity theft and use of fraudulent documents
  • Illicit narcotics trafficking
  • Illegal firearms activity
  • Major felonies tied to illegal immigration

These crimes often involve multiple victims, organized networks, and require multi-agency coordination to achieve justice.

Multi-Agency Partnerships

SECURE operates as a true statewide and federal collaboration, partnering with:

  • U.S. Attorney’s Office
  • U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement (HSI/ERO)
  • U.S. Secret Service
  • U.S. Postal Inspection Service
  • U.S. Department of State (DSS)
  • Utah Department of Corrections
  • Numerous state and local law enforcement agencies

SECURE prosecutors are cross-deputized as Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys, allowing them to prosecute in both state and federal courts.

The ongoing work of S.E.C.U.R.E. disrupts criminal networks and protects all Utah residents.
