Protecting Utahns from financial crime

About the FCIC

The Utah Financial Crime Intelligence Center (FCIC) exists to protect Utahns from financial crime by centralizing investigations, prosecutions, and intelligence sharing across the state. We bring together law enforcement, prosecutors, and financial institutions to identify criminal patterns, stop bad actors, and hold them accountable.

The FCIC is a statewide initiative funded by the Utah Legislature and established in 2026 under the Office of the Utah Attorney General. It expands the existing Financial Crimes Division to address the full spectrum of financial crime facing Utah residents and businesses today.

Financial crime has grown more sophisticated and more widespread. It’s no longer just phone scams targeting elderly residents — it affects businesses, young adults, and families at every level. The FCIC was created because Utah needed a smarter, more coordinated response.

Visit fraud.agutah.gov to learn more. If you or someone you know has been the victim of financial crime, use this form to report it to the FCIC.

The FCIC investigates and prosecutes:

  • Identity theft and bank account takeovers
  • Bank fraud and mortgage fraud
  • Technology-enabled elder fraud schemes
  • Romance scams
  • Money laundering
  • Counterfeiting and forgery
  • Cyber-enabled identity theft or fraud
  • Crypto-fraud schemes
