Angela Micklos is an Assistant Attorney General in the Highway and Utilities Division, where she serves as counsel for the Department of Public Safety. Angela’s client agencies include the Driver License Division, the Bureau of Criminal Identification, the Bureau of Forensic Services, and the State Bureau of Investigations. Angela’s practice is primarily focused on administrative actions, but also involves contracts, GRAMA, data sharing, and general legal assistance involving a wide variety of agency matters.
Angela began her legal career in 1992 at the Office of the Utah Attorney General, initially in the Corrections Section, and subsequently in Criminal Appeals, where she remained until January 1999. Thereafter, Angela served as a Deputy Salt Lake County District Attorney for almost eleven years, a member of the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole for ten years (including three years as Chair), a Division Director at the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services for over three years, and a prosecutor for South Salt Lake City for over two years. Angela returned to the Office in February 2026. Angela earned her J.D. from the University of Utah College of Law in 1992.
Angela has previously served on the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ), the Utah Counsel for Victims of Crime (UCVC), and the Third District Victims’ Rights Committee. For many years, she assisted the Utah State Bar grading the criminal law portion of the bar exam. Angela presented at various legal conferences from 2010-2023.
Outside of her professional life, Angela enjoys traveling, classic cars, major league baseball, fitness, cooking, dog rescue, volunteer work, and hosting small wine and cheese pairings.
