Carina Wells is an Assistant Attorney General in the Commercial Enforcement Division. She represents the Utah Division of Consumer Protection in its affirmative civil litigation against businesses and individuals who have deceived Utah consumers. Ms. Wells’s cases have spanned a wide range of industries, including get-rich-quick schemes, deceptive solar panel companies, pornography websites, social media platforms, and other actors that undermine trust in Utah’s marketplace.
Ms. Wells received her J.D. from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, where she was a Wallace Stegner Fellow and graduated with High Honors. In law school, she served as the Executive Text Editor of the Utah Law Review and co-authored a law review article, “Plastics and the Limits of U.S. Environmental Law,” published in the Harvard Environmental Law Review. She also served as a student extern for Justice Paige Petersen on the Utah Supreme Court.
Before attending law school, Ms. Wells worked at a nonprofit organization, advancing policies to protect the public from toxic chemicals in consumer products. She enjoys continuing to protect consumers in her current role—now through the lens of civil enforcement.
