Christy Henneman is an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Protection Division for the Office of the Utah Attorney General. Christy has spent most of her career in public service in Florida, New Jersey, and Utah. She started her child welfare career with Florida’s Guardian Ad Litem Program. Christy served as counsel and managing attorney for Children’s Legal Services representing the State of Florida in the 11th Circuit in Miami-Dade County in all aspects of child welfare. Her dedication to Florida’s most vulnerable population continued when she became Director of Program Operations for Children’s Home Society, one of the community-based providers for Miami-Dade County.
In 2023, Christy and her husband moved to Utah to be closer to their two children. Christy has been with the Office of the Utah Attorney General since arriving in Utah. Christy covers both Provo and Heber City courts litigating on behalf of children and families. Christy is a strong litigator who works to rehabilitate families and ensure the safety of children. Christy started her legal career as an associate with Greenburg Traurig, LLP in Miami. Along with her child welfare work, she has served as Chief General Counsel for Florida’s Turnpike. She provided legal services for a wide array of agency needs and supported the complex multi-billion-dollar SunPass electric toll collection program. She also served as Deputy General Counsel for New Jersey Transit, the 4th largest transit provider in the US. Christy organized the first internal legal department for the agency while supporting agency contracts, human resources, risk management, and public records requests.
Christy’s legal career includes private immigration work and counsel for Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Agency. Christy has a B.A. in political science and a MSP in urban planning from Florida State University. Christy graduated with a J.D. from Florida International University School of Law in 2005. She is licensed to practice law in Florida, New Jersey, and Utah.
