Isaac Paxman is an Assistant Attorney General in the Highways & Utilities Division. He handles complex civil litigation, primarily representing the Utah Department of Transportation.
Before his current position, Isaac represented clients in private practice and served for several years as deputy mayor for a city that was named by independent sources as the nation’s best-run and best-performing city during years of his service.
After graduating cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Isaac clerked for the Honorable J. Thomas Greene, U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Utah, and then joined the Attorney General’s Honors Program at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, DC. While there, he was named a Pegasus Scholar by the American Inns of Court, allowing him to participate in a three-month immersive experience with barristers in the Inns of Court in London. During his time at the DOJ, he also received a Certificate of Commendation for his work on a nationally prominent case and obtained a LL.M. from Georgetown University.
In 2015, Isaac was named one of Utah’s Legal Elite in civil litigation by Utah Business Magazine. Isaac has served on the executive committee of the Utah State Bar’s Litigation Section and is a Master of the Bench in the American Inns of Court, where he has served as an executive-committee member and president of the A. Sherman Christensen Inn.
Outside the office, Isaac enjoys music, including songwriting and choral singing, board games, and time with family.
