Marisa Heiling is the Section Director for the Environment Section, within the Office’s Environment, Health, and Human Services Division. Together with the attorneys on her team, she represents the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. Her practice encompasses a wide range of areas of environmental law, including air quality, drinking water, and, formerly, petroleum storage tanks and water quality. Before joining the Office of the Utah Attorney General, Marisa started her legal career in Montana serving as a judicial law clerk for Judge Michael Moses of the Montana 13th District Court, an associate attorney for several years in private practice doing general civil insurance defense litigation, and as in-house agency counsel for the Montana Department of Environmental Quality’s Water Quality Division. Marisa received her J.D. and Master of Environmental Law and Policy in 2020 from Vermont Law and Graduate School, where she was an Environmental Mission Scholar. She served as a Managing Editor of the Vermont Journal of Environmental Law, a library services assistant, and a teaching assistant for Legal Research. Marisa studied biology and political science at Butler University where she graduated in 2017.
