Today, Attorney General Sean D. Reyes released the following statement regarding the passing of U.S. District Judge Dee Benson:

“The Utah AG’s Office mourns the passing of Judge Dee Benson. He was a gentleman and a jurist, a humanitarian with a great sense of humor.

“He had a brilliant mind and bigger heart. Judge Benson was a friend, mentor and example to many of us in the AG’s Office and will be deeply missed.

“On a personal level, the Judge was always kind and gracious and I learned from listening to him. Particularly, I enjoyed our chats in the garden of Hal Christensen’s backyard as we both soaked up Hal’s Samurai wisdom. My prayers and condolences go out to his family. Utah has lost a great one.”
